Hello, and welcome to another instalment of Odds and Ends, your newsletter-within-a-newsletter containing links, interesting reads, fun videos – and smaller takes from me.

This week I’ve been playing with AI to generate fake images of the conflict in Gaza. And let’s just say… you should probably not trust a single thing you see, unless it is verified by a credible source.

Also this week, the slightly mind-boggling fact that Nate Silver has written a piece and has quoted my work within it (!), a new excellent reason to support the BBC, and a flicker of hope in the unrelenting nightmare that is the doomed future of HS2. And more!

Content warning of sorts: There’s an image in a bit that looks a bit gruesome at a glance… even though it actually isn’t and is, in theory, completely innocuous. You’ll see what I mean.
