Free the PAF! Watch the video of my Postcode Address File talk last night
One for the O'Malley completists
Hey subscribers!
I’m just finishing the last edits on this week’s essay, which will hopefully be dropping first thing tomorrow.
But in the meantime, I wanted to share a couple of things
First, tickets are still available for a very special Odds and Ends of History event on the 15th October.
I’m going to be speaking to the excellent Zion Lights all about nuclear. She’s got a fascinating story – a few years ago she was an Extinction Rebellion spokesperson, but eventually saw the (green, glowing) light, and became a staunch advocate of nuclear energy as the solution to our climate woes.
I’m going to be talking with Zion about why nuclear needs to be part of the Net Zero energy mix, what Britain can learn from other countries, and how we can speed up the rollout.
So please do book your ticket and come along, as it’s going to be a great night. Everyone is welcome – not just paying subscribers. But you will need a ticket!
So come and hang out with me, Zion, and other Odds and Ends of History subscribers!
Now, secondly, if that isn’t enough live O’Malley content for you, here’s a video of my talk last night at Newspeak House in East London, where I spoke about (what else?) the Postcode Address File.
The talk runs through why the PAF is important, the policy steps to liberate it – and digs into some of the history of just how close an earlier generation of nerds got to finally getting PAF done… and why right now we have a historic opportunity to right this wrong!
In other words, it’s ultra-nerdy, and it’s hopefully the sort of thing readers of this newsletter will enjoy. So have a watch:
