Hey everyone!
I’m very excited to announce the third ever Odds and Ends of History live event. On February 25th, I’m going to be talking to the brilliant Alexander Iosad, Director of Government Innovation Policy at the Tony Blair Institute, all about how AI could rewire the state.
It’s a topic I’m particularly excited to dive into, as AI is something I’ve written about a lot over the past couple of years, and Alexander is one of the best thinkers out there on how this almost magical new technology could actually make a difference in reality – and not just on a Silicon Valley pitch deck.
Here’s the full talk bio:
Public services are crumbling, civil servants are over-stretched... and there's no money to do anything about it. But there is one glimmer of hope: Could AI be the miracle cure the public sector needs?
In this conversation there's going to be something for everyone: If you're an AI sceptic, come along and discover why there's genuine cause for optimism. And if you're an AI enthusiast, prepare to learn why it might be a little trickier than opening ChatGPT and typing "Fix the government".
So join James O'Malley and Alexander Iosad, Director of Government Innovation Policy at the Tony Blair Institute as they explore how AI is already revolutionising public services – and the transformative potential it holds for the future of government.
So please do come along and hang out. Not only will there be interesting chat, but it’s a great excuse to meet and hang out with likeminded nerds. Plus I’ve just got a new batch of “FREE THE PAF” badges to hand out too.
Hope to see you there!
James
