Hey everyone!
I’m very excited to announce another live event! On March 25th, I’m going to be speaking to the excellent Anya Martin, a long time YIMBY (Yes In My Backyard) campaigner, about how the movement has changed the policy conversation in Westminster, and transformed our politics.
Here’s the event’s official description:
The housing crisis long felt ignored in British politics. A generation grew up and were unable to buy their own homes – and politicians didn't seem to care. Until one day... they did.
Over the past few years, the YIMBY (Yes In My Back Yard) movement had captured the attention of Westminster – and it has successfully put housing affordability close to the centre of politics. Today, even the Prime Minister himself has aligned himself with the movement.
So how did this remarkable movement do it? To find out, join James O'Malley and Anya Martin, housing campaigner and former director Priced Out, as they check in on housing progress under the new government, and try to figure out how the YIMBYs ended up winning the argument.
-----
Doors open at 6pm, talk begins at 7pm and will last until approximately 8:30pm including an audience Q&A.
And feel free to stick around after and hang out with us!
It’s going to be a super fun evening as Anya is brilliant – her work is partially what radicalised me into YIMBYism.
So please do come along! Don’t forget – paid subscribers get half-price tickets!
Hope to see you there!
James
PS: Don’t forget tickets to my February event on how AI can (maybe) fix the government are still on sale too!
