Hello! It’s time for Odds and Ends, your regular round-up of the most interesting links I’ve seen, and some shorter takes.

This week I’m featuring:

  • The scourge of “governance theatre”

  • Some advice for aspiring autocrats

  • An extremely spicy ADHD take

  • The lefty case for abundance

  • Good news about lab meat

  • Some – potentially – even better news about how populism might have peaked

  • …And something nobody has noticed before about crisp packets

But I’m afraid because I’m excited I’m going to, yet again, plug my new podcast, The Abundance Agenda – which is all about growth, progress, and touches upon the same sorts of things I write about on here. If you like what I write on here, you'll like the pod too.

We’re super thrilled with the reaction to the show so far, and I can exclusively reveal that we’ve already recorded our first interview with an actual Member of Parliament. So tune into episode two on Monday for that.

So if you’ve not yet had a listen, do check out episode one on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Substack, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Also! Don’t forget to grab your ticket for my next live event on 25th March, where I’ll be speaking to housing hero Anya Martin about how the YIMBY moment has transformed British politics. It’s more timely than ever, given the publication of the planning bill this week. So come along and find out how the YIMBY crew changed the conversation!

Now – finally – let’s get on with the links!
