Hey everyone!
Your regularly scheduled essay will arrive tomorrow, but in the meantime I wanted to let you know about a fun event that the excellent nerds at Newspeak House in London have invited me to do.
On the evening of the 1st October, I’m going to be speaking there about – you guessed it – the Postcode Address File!
In the talk, I’m going to try and explain the importance of the PAF, where we’re at in terms of the campaign to finally liberate it, and what we need to do to finally get it over the line.
Don’t worry, the talk is only going to be about 30 minutes long – and after, we can hang out, have some drinks and… inevitably talk more about postcodes.
If you’d like to come along, it’s going to be free to attend – you just need to register in advance to secure your place. To do that, just click the button below and fill in the form.
All attendees will get a “FREE THE PAF” badge or sticker – while stocks last.
Hope to see you there!
James
PS: I also hope to be announcing another event on a different topic soon, with a very special guest. Information on that will go out to paid subscribers first, so please consider joining the most elite Odds and Ends of History subscribers, so you don’t miss it!
As much as I hate to take up a Tory, you might want to reach out to former NSW Liberal (what we call our Tory Party in Australia, just to be annoying) MP Vic Dominello
NSW Govt definitely leads the country (just the tracking all our buses and trains with GPS on TripView is brilliant in itself) and likes to claim they lead the world in Govt digital delivery and digital partnerships with private enterprise and he gets a lot of the credit here for that
He has a decent social media profile since leaving NSW Parliament apparently and even the federal Labor Govt appointed him to some digital delivery committee so should be easy to contact and presumably eager to talk
