Book now! Where we're going, we need roads (and trains)
My next in-person event/meet-up, with transport policy expert Michael Dnes!
Hey everyone!
I’m very excited to announce the next Odds and Ends of History live, in-person event/meet-up, following on from the utterly delightful evening we had on nuclear energy with Zion Lights a couple of months ago.
On Tuesday 21st January, I’ll be “in conversation” with my friend Michael Dnes, talking about the future of transport:
We might be on the verge of a transport revolution. Autonomous vehicles are already on our streets, petrol engines are going the way of steam trains and drones are zooming high. Or maybe transport is about to fall apart - with HS2 being dismembered, Northern trains being cancelled and my e-scooter still not road legal after five years gathering dust in my garage.
So to explain what is going right, wrong, and weird about transport now, join James O'Malley, who will be talking with Michael Dnes, former roads, rail and technology specialist at the Department for Transport, and who today is Head of Transport Policy at the consultancy Stonehaven.
In other words, if you want an exciting evening of TRANSPORT CHAT, then please do come along. Michael is one of the smartest people I know, and you might already know him – he’s the guy who does those amazing viral transport policy threads on Twitter. (Don’t worry he’s on Bluesky too.)
Also, be sure to stick around after and hang out with us if you like, as last time it was so much fun to meet a bunch of you. It’s a great place to meet like-minded nerds who think that we can, actually, build a better world.
Oh, and most importantly I can confirm that all attendees will receive a FREE THE PAF badge.
Doors will be at 6pm, talking will begin at 7pm. And the event is ticketed, so please book now to avoid disappointment! But the good news is, paid subscribers can grab a ticket for just a fiver!
Hope to see you there!
James
Free the PAF badges! Almost, but not quite enough to get me into London.
